Bonnie Davis

ROYSE CITY — Bonnie Fay Davis, 95, of Royse City passed away March 17, 2010. 

She was born May 29, 1914, in Daingerfield to Bonnie Fernando and Dollie Mae (Truett) Mason. Mrs. Davis graduated from SMU in 1936 with a bachelor’s degree in education and married Harmon Glenn Davis that same year in Addison. She was a teacher and counselor who taught in Addison and Fate and retired from the Royse City ISD. Davis Elementary was named for her and fellow teacher, Mrs. Mary Davis. Following retirement, she was the first female to serve on the RCISD board of trustees. Mrs. Davis was a member of Soroptomist International where she received the “Woman of Distinction” award in 1993. She was also a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Davis is survived by her children, Richard Davis and wife Pam and Glenda Arnold and husband David, all of Royse City; grandchildren Kerri McMahon and husband Tim of San Diego, Calif., Ashley Gray and husband Doug of Denver, Colo., Nathan Davis of Dallas, Jack Carpenter of San Diego, Calif., and Stephen Davis and wife Jenny of Lake Dallas; and five great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1977 and two sisters.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., March 20, at First United Methodist Church, 305 N. Josephine, Royse City, Texas 75189 with Rev. Clay Womack and Rev. Ann Willett officiating. Interment followed in Royse City Cemetery. 

Rest Haven Funeral Home-Royse City Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

    Lames C. Cornelius, 74, of Royse City passed away Oct. 6, 2011.  He was born July 3, 1937, in Royse City to Raymond and Ann L. (Baley) Cornelius. James was a proud member of the National Guard and served with the Tri County Honor Guard of Royse City.

    Warren L. Frye, 41, of Royse City passed away Sept. 8, 2011.  
    He was born July 28, 1970, in Bedford, Va., to Ronnie and Avis Carl (Crouch) Frye. Warren worked in equipment sales. He was a former board member and coach of the Royse City Youth Association and Royse City Youth Baseball. Warren also served on the Royse City Parks & Recreation board and enjoyed coaching football. He attended First Baptist Church of Royse City.
