Julia Campbell

Julia Campbell, a lifetime resident of Royse City, passed away Oct. 28, 2009, at the age of 81.

She was born Sept. 17, 1928, in Munson to Florida and Allene (Maddox) Harrell. Julia was a faithful member of First Christian Church and was very involved in the activities there, using her talent on the nativity scenes and costumes. She was a substitute teacher in the Royse City School District for 13 years, where she also made costumes and helped on floats. Julia and her husband Erby, who preceded her in death in August of 2008, worked together at the Ford Tractor dealership. They shared a wonderful life for 62 years. Julia was devoted to her family and took good care of them. She was everyone’s friend and will be dearly missed.

Julia is survived by children Judy and Gino Tamez of Garland and Kenny and Jeri Ann Campbell of Kaufman; two sisters, Mildred Leath of Dallas and Polly Fuller of Mesquite; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.

A graveside service was held at 11 a.m., Oct. 31, at Royse City Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church of Royse City. Pastor Steve Rhodes officiated.

Rest Haven Funeral Home-Royse City Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

David Dunn

David Ray Dunn, 58, of Royse City passed away Oct. 28, 2009.

He was born Aug. 28, 1951, in Dallas to Ernest Lee and Lillian Claudell (Molock) Dunn. David was a good Christian man, loving son and brother and was always making people smile and laugh. He never met a stranger, and the neighborhood children loved him. David enjoyed fishing and was a big Dallas Cowboy fan. He was a carpenter by trade and attended Church in the City, in Rowlett.

He is survived by his father of Royse City; stepmother Bobbie Gorden of Leesburg, Fla.; loving companion Mary Ann Williams of Royse City and her daughters Elizabeth Ey of Chicago, Ill., Erica Bravo of Dallas and Josephina Watkins of Wylie; sisters Barbara Dunn of Royse City and Jodi Ecker of Rockwall; nieces Staci Roberts of San Antonio and Kimberly Blair and Charisa Low, both of Royse City; nephews David Lewis of Fort Worth, Clyde Lewis of Rockwall and Charlie Foster of San Antonio; aunts Betty Collins of Royse City and Sadie Kennedy of Seagoville; an uncle, Jerry Dunn of Gun Barrel City; and numerous grandnieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

David was preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Kathy Lewis.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Nov. 2, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel with Dr. Aubrey Patterson officiating. Interment followed in Rest Haven Memorial Park.

Leta Weatherford

CADDO MILLS — Leta Sisk Weatherford passed from this life Oct. 27, 2009; she was almost 98 years old.

Leta was born to William and Mattie Sisk on Dec. 9, 1911, in Rockwall County. She was the youngest of six brothers and sisters, Roy, Jim, Jesse, Bill, Lena and Leta.

Leta Sisk was married to Lloyd Weatherford on Jan. 23 1932, in Rockwall County. They had two daughters, Helen Weatherford Givens and Virginia (Ginger) Weatherford Tyler.

Leta lived almost all of her life in Royse City, where she long operated a beauty parlor that was the center of much conversation, friendship and community. She was a sincere and faithful Christian. She has been a blessing to all who have known her, especially her family, on whom she has had a deep and abiding influence. We thank God for sharing her with us and look forward to seeing her again.

Leta is survived by her daughter, Helen Givens; grandchildren David Givens, Laurie Givens Carroll, Michael Tyler, Bryan Givens, Mary Tyler Heckmann and Martha Tyler MacFarland; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Her daughter, Virginia Tyler, and grandsons Marcus Tyler and Mitchell Tyler preceded her in death.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Royse City Church of Christ on Bell Avenue with a burial service immediately following.

Rentfrow Funeral Home of Caddo Mills was in charge of arrangements.
