Above freezing temperatures are predicted for Royse City over the next few days, a big change from last week when temperatures plunged into the teens over a three-day period.

Daytime highs in the 40s and 50s are predicted through Tuesday. Nighttime lows in the 30s and 40s are projected over the same period. According to forecasts, the coldest overnight low temperature of 32 degrees is predicted for Sunday.

Recent low temperatures were 17 degrees on Friday and 14 degrees Saturday and Sunday.

City Manager Bill Shipp said the city didn’t have any serious water main problems, but it was a different story for some Royse City homeowners. He said there were some reports of residential water pipes bursting when frozen water pipes began thawing Saturday and Sunday.

The only help the City of Royse City could give those homeowners, Shipp said, was to cut their water off until they could get a plumber.
