ROYSE CITY —
Two-year-old Colt Bryson Turner, son of Jason and Tracey Turner, drowned Friday in an above-ground swimming pool at the family’s residence in Union Valley.
Funeral services for the youngster will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Rest Haven Funeral Home’s Rockwall Chapel.
“All I can say right now is that it was an accidental drowning in the family swimming pool,” Joe Knight of the Hunt County Sheriff’s Department said Monday. Knight said the accident occurred about 6:40 p.m.
The family’s residence is located on County Road 2422.
“The Hunt County Sheriff’s Department offers condolences to the family,” Knight said.
“There was no wrongdoing on anybody’s part. It’s just a horrible tragedy.”
Julia Bryant, executive director of the Royse City Chamber of Commerce, informed chamber members of the tragedy in a Monday morning e-mail.
Colt’s mother is owner of the Avon Store in Royse City and is a chamber of commerce member.
“This unimaginable tragedy has affected many of us in the community and we have received inquiries of people who would like to make donations of funds to the family,” Bryant stated in the e-mail.
Bryant told chamber members that Keri Crawford, a close family friend, is asking those who would like to offer their condolences to make a donation of check, cash or gift card.
Bryant said Crawford will make sure the family receives the food and household supplies they need, as well as money to help pay funeral expenses and bills.
“Our thoughts and our prayers go out to the Turner family,” Bryant said. “At this difficult time, the family should not have to worry about money or preparing their next meal.”
She asked that donations be sent to Crawford at 720 E. Lamar St. in Royse City or dropped off at Keri’s Creations and Texas Tans (The Lodge), next to Soulman’s Bar-B-Que in Royse City.
