Ralph Green, Hunt County Commissioner for Precinct 2, has announced he will not be seeking another term in the office.
Green made his announcement Thursday via a letter to the Herald-Banner.
“It has been an honor to have served Hunt County as Commissioner in Precinct 2 for the past 15 years, but the time has come for me to leave this job and move on to other things in my life,” Green said. “Therefore I will not be a candidate for re-election as County Commissioner in next year’s election.”
Green, a Republican, was first elected to the office in 1994, after having previously served as the mayor of Caddo Mills and on the Caddo Mills Independent School District board of trustees. He was elected to his current term in November 2006.
Formal filing for the March 2, 2010 political party primaries in Texas is scheduled between Dec. 3, 2009 and Jan. 4, 2010.
“In making this announcement this early, it is my hope that several good candidates will come forward to seek election to my position,” Green said. “I will be glad to meet with anyone who has an interest to discuss all aspects of running for or doing the job. I have met and made friends with many people and I have very much enjoyed that part of my job. I appreciate all the support I’ve had through the years from my constituents, as well as other elected officials and employees of the county.”By Brad Kellar
