RCPD warns of strict fireworks enforcement

Possession and discharging of fireworks is a violation within Royse City city limits.

Police chief Tom Shelton, speaking for the department said, “The Royse City Police want everyone to enjoy the 4th of July.

“However, due to the heavy volume of calls regarding fireworks disturbances last year, the police department will strictly enforce fireworks violations this year,” he said.

Violators found in possession of fireworks within the city limits will have their fireworks confiscated and may be summoned to appear in Municipal Court for violation, he noted.

“We hope that citizens will attend the parade downtown and enjoy the fireworks show at the old football stadium on FM 1777.

“If people wish to use fireworks, they must be outside of the city limits,” Shelton said.
