The free Thursday Concerts by the Lake continue at The Harbor in Rockwall with Angela Blair performing Blues and Soul. The music begins at 7:30 p.m. and the outdoor amphitheater is open for attendees to bring their own lawn seating and/or blankets.
(August 14) Charlie Robison
Country/Rock/Americana artist Charlie Robison will be hitting the stage at the Southern Junction with music from his most recent album “Beautiful Day” on August 14. The doors open at 6 p.m. The Southern Junction is located at 5574 State Highway 276 in Royse City.
(Aug. 14) Lisa Byrn and Loretta Callens
Lisa Byrn and Loretta Callens will perform folk/country lounge duets at The Well in Royse City. The music starts at 7 p.m. The Well is located at 103 East Main Street in Royse City.
(Aug. 15) Open House RW School of Music
Students of the 21st century require and expect a different approach to music lessons. Whether it’s piano, guitar, voice, violin, viola, cello or drums, the owners of Rockwall School of Music would like to share a new approach to private and small group music lessons. The public is invited to an open house on from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 15. Refreshments will be served.
(August 15) Dirt Drifters
A product of blending backgrounds in rock and country, Warner Bros. artists the Dirt Drifters tour the country with a “Never say die” attitude and recently performed at the CMA music awards. The Dirt Drifters will perform at the Southern Junction on August 15. The doors open at 6 p.m. The Southern Junction is located at 5574 State Highway 276 in Royse City.

Local musical act THEOS once again performs on The Well stage with their Christian/Contemporary/Praise and Worship favorites. The music starts at 7 p.m. The Well is located at 103 E. Main Street in Royse City.
(Aug. 20) Beatlegras
The free Thursday Concerts by the Lake continue at The Harbor in Rockwall with Beatlegras performing blugrass-styled renditions of Beatles favorites. The music begins at 7:30 p.m. and the outdoor amphitheater is open for attendees to bring their own lawn seating and/or blankets.
(Aug. 23) Stars on the Rock
Stars on the Rock- 4th Sunday Star Party
The next free star-gazing party will be on Sunday, Aug. 23 at sunset, at The Shores Park in Rockwall. Members of the Texas Astronomical Society will have their telescopes pointed at interesting objects in the night sky. The event, as always, will be held weather permitting.
(Aug. 27) Inner City All Stars
The free Thursday Concerts by the Lake continue at The Harbor in Rockwall with the Inner City All Stars bringing their powerful horn-driven sound to Rockwall’s Harbor. The All Stars have been featured at several venues, most notably to a rousing standing ovation on “Showtime at the Apollo.” The music begins at 7:30 p.m. and the outdoor amphitheater is open for attendees to bring their own lawn seating and/or blankets.

Peggy’s trail ride held for second year
Peggy Shinabarger opened her heart and her feed store again for a second annual benefit trail ride Saturday from Peggy’s Feed & Tack on FM 548.

(May 23) Royse City Ramblin’ Rod Run
Muscle cars, street rods, open cars, t-buckets and roadsters, convertibles, and decades’ worth of cars are expected at the Royse City Ramblin’ Rod Run May 23. It is a Royse City Main Street fund-raiser. It will be at Walker Hawk Ball Fields located just off of Erby Cambell Blvd. south of State Highway 66. For information, contact Kari Hollifield, Main Street Director, 972-636-2184. Arts and crafts vendors are welcome also.

Royse City High School vice president of the Science Club, Brandi Washington, attempts to shape a DNA model into a double helix. Biology teacher Vicki Coker displayed the student DNA models at the high school in recognition of National DNA Day.
