Peggy Shinabarger opened her heart and her feed store again for a second annual benefit trail ride Saturday from Peggy’s Feed & Tack on FM 548.
This time her daughter, Tricia Lovell, who recently lost everything in a fire, was the beneficiary.
Last year the benefit helped out Bob Shewmake, who needed an air conditioner in his home.
Customers and friends agree with the comment made by Rockwall’s Kenneth Gatlin, who was assisting his brother, Rob, with the hamburger grill and event set-up. “She is always always generous.”
Eighteen riders on horseback, including one who came from Galveston just for the ride, she said, wound their way through about five miles of pastures Saturday morning. They returned to free hamburgers and hotdogs, and to live music by Exit, a Royse City area band consisting of Mike Perkins, Patrick LeMoine, Kevin Perry, and Phil Davis, some of whom teach at Amps Studio. An auction of items from the store rounded out the day.
